About

Trust can't be bought, it can only be earned
We founded Damn Good Security with a simple goal in mind - fairness and equality.
Born from the spirit of the hacker community, we believe in doing the right thing, the right way, for the right people.
We don’t do sales targets, cold calls, or upsells and that lets us focus on keeping you, your staff, and your data safe.
Small and medium businesses shouldn't be left behind when it comes to cyber security because it's too complicated or expensive.

Simply put - we truly believe that by focusing on the customer first, we can provide the best service to fit your needs.

What we do matters, to us and to you
Sometimes small businesses have to make the hard decision of risking their entire business hoping they never encounter a cyber attack, because they simply can't afford help with their cyber security.
We think this sucks.
Our ethos is simple - giving good, cost effective, and value for money solutions to those who desperately need it. Of course, we still support large and enterprise level customers, but we believe all businesses, of all sizes, should be protected from cyber threats equally.

Part of the community

As a company born from the community, we truly believe in its power and the value in giving back. If we're not speaking at a local meetup, random BSides in the UK, or on a panel, we're generally helping run, organise, or mentor at them (sometimes even all of the above!). Here's a bunch of stuff we've done in the community over the years.

BSides NCL 21 - choose your own keynote

"Choose your own keynote"
BSides NCL 2021

Dave McKenzie's first debut of the ever popular "choose your own keynote" talk at BSides NCL 2021.
BeerCon

BeerCon 2, 3, and 4

Helping The Beer Farmers run, manage, and host their rookie centric conferences. We provided mentorship for first time speakers proving that community sponsorship doesn't always need to be a bag of cash.
Hack Thursday

Hack Thursday

Our co-founders help organise and run Hack Thursday - a successful Glasgow based meetup for anyone with an interest in infosec, hacking, and cyber security.
G3C UK

"This Conference Sucks"
G3C 2023

Having been involved in organising, operating, hosting, volunteering, and speaking at many conferences around the world, Scott McGready gave the next generation of students at Glasgow Caledonian University top tips to run successful, yet fun, conferences.
Covid 19 Cyber Threat Coalition

Covid19 Cyber Threat Coalition

During the Covid19 pandemic criminals took advantage of the chaos around working from home and targeted organisations that weren't able to defend themselves. David McKenzie volunteered with this organisation as Head Of Infrastructure & Steering Committee Member.
CSIRT.global

CSIRT.global UK

Organisations sometimes don't realise they have a gaping vulnerability that criminals will use to exploit. CSIRT.global (an offshoot of DIVD) aims to solve this by informing companies of any vulnerabilities that they have, for free, as soon as possible.
Due to our co-founders' experience, they were asked to lead the UK's arm of CSIRT.global.
We put people before profit, always.
Sometimes small businesses have to make the hard decision of risking their business' security because they simply can't afford cyber security solutions.
We don't think that's fair. Rather than focusing on how much money a client can spend with us, we're focusing on delivering the best service we can, at a modest price to let you focus on what you do best.
We want our business to succeed, because that means we can help more people be better protected against various cyber threats. But that doesn't need to come at a hefty price tag.
Our promise to you is that we'll do our damn best to help you but, if we can't, we'll put you in touch with someone we trust to help.

We're here to help you succeed

Our primary job is to let you get on with yours. Whether you need a second opinion, are unsure what you need, or just want to explore what is available - we're happy to have a chat.
