Without the community, we would be nothing

When it comes to community spirit, no community does it better than the cyber/infosec community in our opinion. A collection of like-minded individuals all keen to learn more, help protect people, and hack cool things.
Every individual you meet in cyber loves what they do, and so do we. That's why, when we're not working with you to help keep you safe, we're probably at a conference, running a local meetup, or mentoring the next generation.

Without the community, we wouldn't be here. Simply, the community spirit is the secret sauce behind Damn Good Security.

Our contributions

As a company born from the community, we truly believe in its power and the value in giving back. If we're not speaking at a local meetup, random BSides in the UK, or on a panel, we're generally helping run, organise, or mentor at them (sometimes even all of the above!). Here's a bunch of stuff we've done in the community over the years.

Dave McKenzie's first debut of the ever popular "choose your own keynote" talk at BSides NCL 2021.

BeerCon 2, 3, and 4

Helping The Beer Farmers run, manage, and host their rookie centric conferences. We provided mentorship for first time speakers proving that community sponsorship doesn't always need to be a bag of cash.

Hack Thursday

Our co-founders help organise and run HackThursday - a successful Glasgow based meetup for anyone with an interest in infosec, hacking, and cyber security.

Having been involved in organising, operating, hosting, volunteering, and speaking at many conferences around the world, Scott McGready gave the next generation of students at Glasgow Caledonian University top tips to run successful, yet fun, conferences.

Covid19 Cyber Threat Coalition

During the Covid19 pandemic criminals took advantage of the chaos around working from home and targeted organisations that weren't able to defend themselves. David McKenzie volunteered with this organisation as Head Of Infrastructure & Steering Committee Member

CSIRT.Global UK

Organisations sometimes don't realise they have a gaping vulnerability that criminals will use to exploit. CSIRT.global (an offshoot of DIVD) aims to solve this by infomring companies of any vulnerabilities that they have, for free, as soon as possible.
Due to our co-founders' experience, they were asked to lead the UK's arm of CSIRT.global.
